Our Environmental and Social Responsibility (ESR):
Conventionally called Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), at CAOS we have deliberately replaced “Corporate” with “Environmental” to further enlarge the scope of our engagement with the environment, both natural and social.

Our ESR is implemented both directly in-house and through collaboration with other organizations such as social and environmental non governmental organizations (NGOs).

CAOS has tied up with 4 NGOs:
1.	Pondy Citizens’ Action Network (PondyCAN) works towards preserving and enhancing the natural, social, cultural and spiritual environment of Pondicherry. It has received an award by the Government of Pondicherry for its social and environmental work.
2.	Shuddham is involved with the improvement of health and hygiene conditions in the town and rural areas of Pondicherry through setting up of proper management systems for domestic solid waste.
3.	Satya Special School works with physically and mentally challenged children of the under-privileged section of society in Pondicherry.
4.	Goonj is a unique resource mobilization initiative that provides clothes and other basic amenities to millions in the remote villages by turning one’s wastage into a resource for another. It has recently been awarded the ‘Indian NGO of the year’ award for its governance and practices

In collaboration with the above NGOs, CAOS has also initiated some projects in-house. For example, in the CAOS factory, efforts have begun to reduce waste disposal and increase recycling. Ways and methods of making the factory more efficient and “positive” are also being continuously looked into.
